People ask us about our timeline. How long does an international adoption take? Well....there is really not one answer to that question. International adoption can be unpredictable, to say the least.
But, here is our basic timeline.
-November 2007 - decided to pursue an Ethiopian adoption and started gathering necessary documents. This includes getting medical records; marriage and birth certificates; financial statements; fingerprints (state, federal, local, etc.); homestudy; and running around to get things signed, notarized, authenticated, etc., etc. etc.
-March 2008 - still gathering those documents and documents and more documents.......
-April 23, 2008 - finally, all documents are in and we are on the WAIT LIST. We are open to gender and asked for a child from 0 to 12 months old.
-September 17, 2008 - we get THE CALL. We are given a referral of a beautiful 8.5 month old boy.
-December 17, 2008 - Our Ethiopian court date. We need to wait to pass court and then we will receive a travel date.
